For over 34 years African Safari Club, a Swiss group, of which we are part, has specialised in arranging quality, good value holidays to Kenya and today proudly boast an excellent reputation as international market leaders.
From small beginnings the group now control ten hotels on the Kenyan coast and five safari lodges and camps. We have our own transfer and safari vehicles as well as a fleet of light aircraft to fly you directly to the wilderness game reserves from our private airstrip. Our infrastructure also includes African Safari Airways which operates an Airbus A310-300 aircraft between Gatwick and various other European gateways and Mombasa, several times a week.
In 1990 we became the proud owners of the 5,600 ton m.s. Royal Star. This charming yacht-like cruise ship has since offered a year round indian ocean cruise programme to the idyllic and relatively uncommercialised islands of the Seychelles, Mauritius, Madagascar and Zaznibar amongst others.
What makes us unique is that we offer a year round programme of Indian Ocean cruises of varying durations to some of the most beautiful and unspoilt islands on earth, which can be combined with a relaxing stay at an exotic beach hotel and optional safari adventures. Nothing is left to others, or indeed to chance, as all aspects of our indian ocean cruise holidays are managed and personally controlled by our own well trained and highly motivated staff.

It is a paradise to behold - from the breathtakingly beautiful forested mountains and romantic sunsets of Mah and the idyllic, oft photographed palm fringed beaches of La Digue, to the mischievous lemurs of Madagascar and the bustling bazaars of Zanzibar, each island has a distinct and unique character of its own.

Safaris often involve travel over rough ground and may not be suitable for those with certain medical conditions. If in doubt please contact us for advice. Your safari group may include customers from other European countries.
Whilst on safari, for your own safety, please observe the instructions of your driver/guide at all times.
Under no circumstances should you wander away from designated picnic areas, your safari of lodge/camp.
Please note that electricity and water supplies at safari lodges/camps can often be interrupted and occasionally cut completely at night.
THINGS TO TAKE WITH YOU
It is advisable to include the following items in your luggage: first-aid kit, insect repellent, torch, high factor suntan lotion and diarrhea pills. If you were spectacles or contact lenses we recommend that you take a spare pair. Do not rely on being able to buy any items locally.
WELCOME TO KENYA & THE INDIAN OCEAN
WHAT TO EXPECT
When holidaying in Kenya and visiting some of the islands in the Indian Ocean, it is important to remember that you cannot expect the same standards that we are accustomed to in Europe. There is little or no drainage, as a consequence, after a shower of rain the paths and roads can become muddy. Some vehicles are somewhat dilapidated and driving can be erratic. Energy conservation measures may mean that on occasions hotels are obliged to limit services such as water and electricity supplies which will result in power cuts, loss of air-conditioning and water shortages. Whilst electrical wiring always complies with local safety standards, these may be lower that we are accustomed to in Europe.
The presence of insects in a hotel or lodge should not be interpreted as a lack of cleanliness or hygiene. It is simply a fact of life in the tropics.
Mombasa is generally safe but we recommend that you do not go walking around the city at night and that you use only licensed taxis.
Please ensure that any excursions you buy are bought from a recognized and licensed operator who has adequate insurance cover. We also advise you not to buy food from beach or street vendors.
For your safety be more vigilant than you would at home.
YOUR HEALTH
In common with many tropical countries, general standards of hygiene and safety in Kenya and at the port of call on your cruise may differ from those in Europe. You should, therefore, exercise greater caution for your own protection and health. The risk of insect bites may be reduced by the use of repellent sprays and by covering up whenever possible, especially in wooded areas and at night. Tap water should not be used as drinking water and to minimize the risk of stomach upset, you should avoid too much fruit, drinks with ice and excess sunbathing.
Remember to take adequate supplies of any prescribed medication.
